Cafe Journal

In Viña del Mar Café Journal, Valparaiso’s twin sister, is an established restaurant, bar and dancing place. In Valparaiso, Cafe Journal made its name in the ‘lunch scene’ impressively fast. The place is packed at lunch time and with good reason: service is efficient and the plat du jour, which consists of three courses, is unbeatable considering its value (CLP 2.200/US$4) and quality. If the lunch does not tempt you, try one of the Chilean and Peruvian dishes on the menu. We recommend the chupe de camarones or the pastel de jaiva. You’ll find Cafe Journal walking from the old market (el Mercado) towards Aduana/Cerro Artilleria. The area is perfectely safe during day time and definitely worth visiting.
